Thwaites pub tenant brews winning beer

A beer brewed by a Bury pub tenant is to go on sale in pubs across the country to mark Cask Ale Week.

Chris McClung, from The Black Bull, won the chance to make his own ale in the Thwaites Awards for Excellence 2016.

The Ainsworth Road pub won the award for Best Pint, so brewing their own beer was an apt prize.

Named 'Gold Bullion', it is a golden ale, gently hopped with a hint of fruit and will be available in around 80 Thwaites pubs from 12 September

McClung said, 'I have been really looking forward to brewing the beer, it's a great idea from Thwaites to give this as a prize.

'Gold Bullion will be a really refreshing, smooth drink. I'm really chuffed it will be going on sale in so many pubs.'
