Samworth Brothers to invest £3m in new Leicester facility

Samworth Brothers is investing £3m creating a pâté-making facility at its Walkers Deli site in Leicester, creating 83 jobs.

The company, which employs 6,500 people in Leicestershire, said with the new investment it would become the UK's leading pâté manufacturer, by volume, with orders growing rapidly from major retailers.

Samworth Brothers group executive director, Anita Barker said, 'Walkers Deli exceeded all expectations when, in less than 12 months, the business identified and delivered a new sector. Pâté sits perfectly with the excellent craft skills and technical capabilities we have in the business, that are already leading edge, and the business now has 24 per cent of this market.'

Walkers Deli is now gearing up for the peak Christmas period for both hams and pâté. The pâté products include everyday favourites such as Brussels pâté through to seasonal speciality lines for Christmas. It also produces a wide range of hand crafted hams and cooked meats for high street retailers.
