Ninth Thaikhun opens in Bath

Thai Leisure Group's street food restaurant brand, Thaikhun has opened in Bath as the latest addition to the redeveloped Little Southgate dining quarter, creating 50 full and part time jobs in the area.

Work has been completed on the 4,197sq ft site which has undergone a £900k fit out to include a theatre style open kitchen, intimate outdoor dining area and bar. Welcoming up to 154 diners at one time, the Little SouthGate restaurant is the first for the brand in the South West of England and the ninth Thaikhun restaurant, adding to its nationwide portfolio in Manchester, Guildford, Nottingham, Oxford, Cambridge, Glasgow, Newcastle and Aberdeen.

Inspired by the street food found in cities throughout Thailand, the restaurant concept was initially conceived by Kim Kaewkraikhot, a former street hawker from a town two hours North of Bangkok. Designed to recreate a traditional Thai street scene, the vibrant décor incorporates bric-a-brac, a tuk-tuk and specially selected artefacts, all imported from Thailand to create a memorable dining experience.

Thaikhun will be open from 12pm until 10pm seven days per week, with customers invited to enjoy an introductory booking offer. 50% will be taken off diners’ bills on the opening date, followed by 40% on day two with discounts being offered up until Thaikhun’s fifth day of operation.

Ian Leigh, managing director at Thaikhun, said, “We are delighted to bring Thaikhun to Bath and hope that our new restaurant will offer something a little different for diners in the area.

'By combining traditional Thai street food and an authentic, eclectic restaurant setting we hope to inspire dreams or memories of exploring Thailand for every customer that dines with us. This is our first site in the south west of England and we couldn’t be more excited to hear what the people of Bath think!”
