Chaucer Food Group acquired by Nagatanien of Japan for £95m

Chaucer Food Group, the Hull-based freeze-dried food manufacturer with about 600 staff, has been acquired by Nagatanien of Japan in a £95m deal.

The acquisition by Nagatanien, a maker and distributor of premixed and instant food, brings together two well-established businesses, with a central focus on health and wellness.

Chaucer is aiming to develop the company's Hull base within the next 12 months, meaning an expansion of the site and more jobs, and it is a move the new owners endorse.

Nagatanien has said it will use the partnership with Chaucer to enter new markets and expand its global footprint.
