Simply Fresh launches in Northern Ireland

Convenience store brand, Simply Fresh has launched its first outlet in Northern Ireland with the opening of a 2,800sq ft site in Holywood, on the outskirts of Belfast.

Costcutter Supermarkets Group took a 20% stake in the Birmingham-based Simply Fresh group back in October 2014.

The company, based in Bearwood and run by brothers Sukhjit and Kash Khera, was founded in 2009 and runs a group of local convenience supermarkets as independent retailers under a common brand.

The first Simply Fresh store was launched in Kenilworth while the brothers were operating stores successfully for other companies.

Simply Fresh was named Symbol/Fascia Group of the Year for the first time at the Retail Industry Awards 2016 in September. The group impressed the judges with a particularly strong performance over the past year that saw shop numbers increase from 55 to 86 outlets.
