Masterchef runner-up to open first restaurant in London

Masterchef runner-up Tom Simmons is set to open a new self-titled restaurant this spring at London's Tower Bridge, offering Welsh dishes, with a French influence. Lois Thomas, his girlfriend, will manage front of house.

The menu will feature Welsh lamb, sourced from Preseli Blue Stone, and Orkney scallop from Keltic Seafare, among others. There'll also be a selection of small plates to have at the bar, including cockle popcorn with laverbread mayonnaise.

Dishes will include Roast cod loin, asparagus, haddock scotch egg and hollandaise, Salt baked beetroot, goats cheese and apple salad. Diners will enjoy sweet treats like Rhubarb panna cotta, Granny Smith sorbet and ginger biscuit.

Pembrokeshire-born Simmons has worked alongside Mark Sargeant and Tom Aikens, and headed up the kitchen at Wolfscastle Country Hotel.

The new restaurant will sit within the brand new One Tower Bridge, a development which will also boast a new brasserie from The Ivy.
