Rail House Cafe launches in SW1

Rail House Cafe has just opened in London's Victoria with a menu of unique signature twists on international favourites. The globally-inspired menu offers healthy choices for everyday alongside weekend indulgent comforts.

The new all-day venue from Village London features a restaurant, an upstairs bar and also a spacious 80-cover terrace and is situated at the new Nova mixed-use development.

Brunch at Rail House Cafe features a menu of nine different ways to enjoy eggs, including Burgerdict - poached egg, beef patty, hollandaise, American cheese, on English muffin, Green Tea Waffles with coconut and berries, and Shakshuka - baked egg with tomato, feta, avocado, parsley, sourdough toast.

Healthy and flavoursome options for every day appear on the menu’s Raw section: delicate ceviche and tartare plates such as Sea Bass Ceviche - compressed cucumber noodles, puffed rice, sesame, and Yellowfin Tuna Tartare - crab mayo, pickled ginger crisps, mirin dressing, daikon cress.

Nutritious salads add texture and are lifted by bold flavour accompaniments like the Kale Caesar - Spanish anchovies, quail's egg, marinated kale, parmesan dressing with marinated chicken, ham hock, salt beef or king prawns.

Chargrilled Octopus, with potato, olives, shemigi mushroom salad, makes the most of the restaurant’s flame grill. At Rail House Cafe even comfort food goes above and beyond too – like the Truffled Mac & Cheese made using aged Comte.

Substantial dinner highlights include, a 24 Hour Slow-cooked Lamb Shoulder with 5-spice, aubergine miso, black curry, and Wild Bass & Truffle with lemon mousseline, confit fennel, saffron.

For those with a sweet tooth, elegant updates on classics: Vanilla Cheesecake with hazelnut crumb and berries, and Pan Perdou with caramelized pear and vanilla ice-cream.

The upstairs bar comes with dramatic architectural views out of the two-storey floor to ceiling glass walls. Cocktails include Saffron Spritz - saffron gin, rhubarb liqueur, tonic, Chandon Rose, and The Seoul Train - watermelon juice, Sangsom Rum, Jinju 24, lime juice, coriander.

The wine list offers classics as well as a selection of natural and orange wine. The curated list of draft beer and bottles from small independent producers is notable, focusing on local and far flung specialist brewers. A current favourite includes ‘Magic Rock: Salty Kiss from Gose in Yorkshire’.

Rail House Cafe is the latest opening from Village London, the family of modern all-day cafes, which include the popular Riding House Cafe in Fitzrovia, and Village East on Bermondsey Street.
