H+J launches fashion themed spring menu at Dartmouth House

Leading London caterer H+J launched its new fashion themed spring menu and showcased its innovative food in an evening of style, creativity and innovation at Dartmouth House in London on 6 April.

Over 80 guests attended the event designed to connect fashion and food and gave invited people a real ‘Taste of Fashion’ at the historic Mayfair venue where H+J provides a complete catering and sales service.

Held at Dartmouth House, home of the English-Speaking Union, ‘A Taste of Fashion’ showcased the newest, on-trend food offering from H+J, in preparation for the busy spring and summer seasons.

On arrival, guests were treated to canapés, which included Pimm’s bubbles, diced cucumber, strawberry gel and a mint leaf, as well as a pink Prosecco espuma and a curated aperitif bar which featured Berkeley Square gin and H+J’s own botanical tonic waters. A non-alcoholic option of Seedlip gin was also offered.

The evening, held in the French chateau-style courtyard, Small Drawing Room, Long Drawing Room and the Churchill Room at Dartmouth House, kicked off with a unique fashion installation from student designer George Chaffey, who is studying at the world renowned Central Saint Martins (CSM) and who won 2014 Young Designer of the Year: UK South.

Guests then sampled H+J’s newly created bespoke menu devised by Head Chef Joseph Fisher and inspired by the iconic British fashion houses situated close to Dartmouth House’s Mayfair location.

The experiential fashion themed meat-free menu included some unusual flavour combinations such as seared tuna and curry sponge with a coriander cress, crab bonbons with a bisque mayonnaise and lavender sorbet with soubise apricots. Other dishes included ceviche scallop and seawater bubbles with a seaweed crisp and cockle popcorn buckets. The highlight of the evening was a mannequin centrepiece unveiled in the Churchill Room which was decorated in multi-coloured, mirror-glazed puddings and based on the fashion theme of ‘punk’.

H+J Director and Co-Founder Patrick Harbour comments: “It’s a very exciting time for H+J as we head into a very busy spring and summer season and we are thrilled to have showcased our newest dish concepts at the stunning venue that is Dartmouth House. At H+J our motto is that food is like fashion, it never stands still and Dartmouth House: A Taste of Fashion has given us the ideal opportunity to demonstrate how we strive to stay ahead of the curve in event and venue catering.”
