American coast-style seafood dining chain to launch in Cardiff

A new Florida and California-style seafood eatery, Seafood Shack is set to launch in Cardiff on 10 May, creating up to 30 jobs, ahead of further openings.

The man behind the new brand is Irish entrepreneur Darryl Kavanagh, who will be overseeing the roll out of the chain across the UK.

The 7,000 sq ft Seafood Shack will be situated on St Mary Street and will be serving fresh seafood dishes in an open theatre kitchen.

On the ground floor there will be a fully themed 150 capacity 'shanty tavern' serving cocktails, craft beers, over 100 wines and a range of high end whiskies, gins and champagnes.

There will be a nautically themed 200-seater restaurant. Dishes will include jumbo crab claws, scallops, prawns, clams, mussels, langoustines and fishcakes. There will also be a selection of burgers, 10oz tomahawk steaks and free-range chicken.

On the first floor, the new Seafood Shack will offer a champagne and oyster bar, along with a Victorian-style fish and chip bar, which will serve most of the main dishes for customers who wish to take it away.

Darryl Kavanagh is looking to open Seafood Shacks in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Solihull, Derby, Bath and Bristol.
