The Science Museum in South Kensington has revealed an increase in intimate dinner bookings in two of its newest event spaces – Wonderlab: The Statoil Gallery and Mathematics: The Winton Gallery – as clients demand truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
Last year, the museum received around 5-6 enquiries per month for small dinners, whereas this year they have recorded 10-15 enquiries on average per month. The team attributes this increase to the launch of both Wonderlab and the Maths Gallery within the last seven months, as they are able to offer a more exclusive, immersive dining experience compared to the larger gallery spaces.
Jodie Guilford, Event Sales Manager at the Science Museum, said, “The events industry is constantly evolving and recently we’ve seen a significant increase in clients demanding truly unique, exclusive and immersive experiences that will live long in the minds of attendees. Whether a private dinner or a larger drinks reception, for example, clients are consistent in their desire to offer guests something different to what you can get from a private dining room in a hotel.
“Our new spaces, particularly Wonderlab and the Maths Gallery, are the perfect solution to meet this demand. It is fantastic to see not only an increase in intimate dinners, but to have secured an impressive pipeline of upcoming events for both spaces.”
Just recently, the museum hosted a VIP board dinner for Tate & Lyle in the Maths Gallery. The company was looking for a brand new event space in London, which was both impressive and intimate, for 24 of its board members.
Wonderlab, the museum’s most interactive gallery to date, has this year hosted events including a dinner for two under the canopy of 500 stars for a wedding anniversary. In June, the museum will welcome 30 people for a private dinner, while further provisional bookings are in place for the next few months.
