Seafood specialists to open Covent Garden restaurant


This summer, seafood specialists The Oystermen are set to open the doors to their first permanent restaurant in Covent Garden.

The Oystermen 'Seafood Bar & Kitchen' in Henrietta Street will showcase the finest and freshest oysters and seafood from all four corners of the British Isles, promising exclusive new dishes as well as much-loved classics from their successful extended residency at The Sampler in South Kensington.

Visitors to the new venue will be able to take their pick from top-flight oysters sourced directly from UK farmers and served every which way; ranging from freshly-shucked in the half-shell to buffalo-barbecued and Cajun-battered.

Alongside the oyster bar, guests can expect to enjoy a host of superb seafood, including hearty bowls of steaming hot mussels, big beautiful south coast crabs, plus shellfish platters piled high and perfect for sharing. The Oystermen’s new all-day menu will feature a selection of house-cured, smoked and pickled fish such as Whisky & Oak Smoked Trout, and Smoked Mackerel & Horseradish Pate, also daily fresh fish specials.

A carefully-curated wine list will be available to accompany the seafood, as well as The Oystermen’s bespoke oyster stout brewed in collaboration with Canopy Beer Co and a collection of refreshing craft ales. Those looking for a post-work or pre-theatre treat can take advantage of the team’s renowned “Bubbles ’n’ Oysters Happy Hour”, which will run every day from 3pm to 5pm and offer six fresh oysters with a glass of fine Crémant du Bourgogne fizz for the insane value price of £10 only!

The Oystermen concept was born in 2014, when seasoned hospitality professionals and great friends Matt Lovell and Rob Hampton shucked oysters together for guests at Matt’s wedding. Since then the duo have earned a reputation for providing a relaxed, affordable and fun dining experience like no other; celebrating Britain’s finest and freshest oysters and seafood at events around London with their popup oyster bars, and their ten month residency at The Sampler (in affectionately-dubbed ‘South Kensington-on-Sea’).
