New Peak Blinders Bar & Grill to open in Devon next month

An upcoming bar themed around the Birmingham gangster series, Peak Blinders, is to open on 16 September in Devon.

Peaky Blinders Bar and Grill, which is owned by Jamie Devon, will be situated on Winner Street in Paignton. Devon says if visitors wear a flat-cap then they'll get a free shot!

Devon has wanted to buy the site ten years ago when it was an Irish bar, named Paddy & Jenny's, and used have live music.

As for the theme, Devon's grandfather was a Peaky Blinder, and he was further inspired when the BBC series came out. Peaky Blinders was a criminal gang based in Birmingham during the 19th and 20th centuries.

Devon has spent the last nine months renovating the bar, creating a 1920s-style interior complete with bespoke furniture which he bought in from different parts of the country. The venue will be able to seat 50 people and will hold 120 people in total.

The menu will focus on rotisserie chicken dishes and, to fit in with the 1920s theme, the bar will predominantly serve whisky from a selection of 14 different types - one of which will be 45% proof. Other spirits, ales and wine will also be available.

Peaky Blinders will also be a music venue, with new acts every night of the week, and will be open seven days a week between 8am and 11.30pm.
