On October 31, Balls & Company on Soho’s Greek Street will celebrate Halloween with a one off fright-filled ‘Ghouls & Company’ takeover.
Complete with a specially created menu of devilish dishes and cocktail concoctions, the night will bring All Hallows’ Eve in with a bang, as fog fills the room and guests are lead to the depths of Company Below to try their luck in the Doctor’s Lab.
Upstairs, the Haunted House will see witches’ caldrons and pumpkin-laden tables, where Balls & Co Founder and Head Chef Bonny Porter will serve a three course menu, starting with a choice of Chargrilled baby octopus and maggot-like puffed rice.
To follow, guests will choose from Grubs – better known as Squid Ink gnocchi, Barbecue ribs or snakeish Boerewors, accompanied by Roast pumpkin or Polenta ghosts. Slime filled Scream Puffs, Raspberry worms with brownie mud, and Frankenstein’s Bride cupcakes will complete the line-up.
There will also be a selection of gruesome cocktails such as The Perfect Murder with blood orange, mescal, tequila, lime and black salt, the Root of All Evil made with rye, Ardberg, ginger and sweet vermouth, and the Final Destination, a concoction of brandy, passionfruit, spiced rum, Cynar and soda.
Downstairs, for those who dare to wade through the fog to the Doctor’s Lab, medics will be on hand brewing up an array of potions including the Blood Transfusion, Eyeball Martini, Nail Biter, Brain Matters and The Antidote before guests are released back onto the equally spooky streets of Soho.
If arriving after hours to the Doctor’s Lab for an examination, an unwelcome aperitif, A Pair of Teeth, will be served featuring gummy teeth infused with vodka and blackcurrant.
Bonny Porter said, ‘Our blood spattered menus and carved pumpkin creations will be waiting to give you a frightful night. We hope our guests will become creatures of the night, turning their bed sheets into ghoul costumes…and scary dance moves will actually be acceptable for once in our haunted house! I better get working on my costume – there’s no escape!’
