Wadworth to brew famous festive ale for last time with new ales on horizon

Wadworth, the Devizes-based family brewer and pub operator, is brewing its famous Christmas ale, Dray Bells, for the very last time for this year’s festivities. It will be available from pubs across the Wadworth estate throughout December.

The 4.1% beer is a mid-amber ale brewed using Pale Ale, Crystal and Chocolate malts, combined with Goldings, Cascade, Willamette and Challenger hops. Dray Bells epitomises the taste of Christmas; Wadworth includes cinnamon, orange peel, allspice and nutmeg during the brewing process to add sweet scents of satsuma and a hint of spice to the taste.

Andy Weaver, head brewer at Wadworth, commented, “Dray Bells, which uses the most festive ingredients to get our customers into the Christmas spirit, has been a well-loved seasonal ale. While this is the last time that Dray Bells will be brewed, Wadworth has more exciting seasonal ales up its sleeve for 2018 so watch this space!”
