Wilson Vale listed in FS Growth Report Top 20 for fifth consecutive year

Wilson Vale is one of only three companies to appear on The Foodservice Growth Report for five consecutive years since the listing was introduced in 2013.

Prepared by AlixPartners and EP Business in Hospitality, the Foodservice Growth Report 2017 shows the UK’s top 20 listing of the UK’s most dynamic and best performing companies within the UK foodservice sector.

Ashby-based Wilson Vale appeared in 12th place this year, up five places on last year, and along with WHS and Harbour & Jones, were one of only three catering operators to appear the list for five consecutive years.

The report shows that Wilson Vale has achieved 18.3% compounded annual growth in gross profit over the past three years. Turnover has increased by 25.4% over the same period.

Now one of few independent caterers operating within the sector, Wilson Vale has a portfolio of 95 clients, mainly within the corporate sector, independent education and conferencing. Turnover is forecast at £29 million for year-end December 2017.

Andrew Wilson, co-founder of Wilson Vale, (pictured with co-founder Carolyne Vale) said sector: “We are quietly making our mark on what is an extremely competitive and acquisitive sector by retaining our core values and keeping our growth steady, organic and controlled.

“To appear on The Foodservice Growth Report for five consecutive years is a remarkable achievement, particularly when our growth has been entirely organic. It shows our unique positioning in our market and our determination to continue on the path of independence by building on our core values and keeping our focus on fresh food, craft skills and strong relationships.”

As part of that path to keeping its independence, work has recently started on a new 8,000Sq ft corporate headquarters for Wilson Vale in Ashby-de-la-zouch in Leicestershire.

Due for completion in August 2018, the eco-friendly, highly specified building will create a new home for the growing business, which now employs over 750 people nationwide.

Andrew Wilson, co-founder of Wilson Vale, said: “We are investing in Leicestershire and in the future of Wilson Vale and our people by creating a better working environment with light and airy working spaces and impressive green credentials, including a 40 kilo solar array to produce our own energy.

“The building will reflect our ethos and our culture and will be a clear statement of who we are and how we operate. Our operational standards have never been better and there is a palpable sense of confidence and buzz throughout the business.”
