Moody Burgers reaches £150k through crowdfunding for expansion


Moody Burgers has raised over its £150k target from 185 investors through Crowdcube to expand its delivery service and to launch two additional sites.

Launched in 2016, Moody Burgers has two bricks and mortar sites and delivers restaurant-quality burgers directly to customers via its online ordering system

The firm's website has generated £200k of sales to date, with total sales of £416k (EBITDA of £7.5k) from two sites. Swindon opened on 16 September and Worcester on 17 March.

Swindon successfully moved to larger premises late last month, creating 80 dine with us seats and allowing us to sell cocktails and craft beer, deliveries are up 20%.

The menu features 13 Burgers, sides, Loaded fries, wings, shakes and desserts. Contracts are in place with JustEat and Deliveroo. We also have 12,000 customers in our own database and 6,200 followers on social media.

The takeaway food market is worth £9.9bn and is growing– spend has increased by 34% since 2009. Growth has been helped by aggregators such as JustEat and Delveroo.
