PepsiCo to launch van sales op to fill P&H Snacksdirect gap

Snacks and beverage business, PepsiCo UK has pulled out of talks over a possible purchase of the collapsed Palmer & Harvey’s van sales operation and is to launch its own van sales operations to fill the gap.

PepsiCo had operated its own national van sales operation until 2012 when it sold the business to, ironically, Palmer & Harvey (P&H).

Retailers who were supplied by P&H have reportedly been unable to secure enough stock, due to the capacity limitations of the wider wholesale sector, so therefore the new PepsiCo van sales operation will alleviate this issue.

Huseiyn Tulpar, Vice President Impulse Sales, PepsiCo UK, commented, 'The wholesale market is experiencing a significant amount of change and our focus is to ensure that our customers' needs are being met in the absence of the important direct-to-store service previously provided by P&H.

'By establishing our own van sales operation, we can quickly replace that service and ensure our retail customers are getting the service and continuity of supply they require. It is part of our long-standing commitment to the impulse market and to supporting local retailers.'
