Cucina sees annual profit rise by 77%

Education caterering company, Cucina has posted results for the year ended 31 March 2017, showing a turnover uplift of 19.3% to £14.9m.

During the period, the group saw profit before tax rise 77.4% to £1.1m, attributed in part to two contract wins totalling £10m in August. Cucina hold 49 contracts with secondary schools and academies that have over 1,200 pupils.

The company's positive results are all due to careful internal cost controls and menu development initiatives, which have helped it to maintain margins.

A focus on driving sales has meant that the majority of existing academy contracts now deliver nil cost operations or financial returns to school partners, ensuring sustainability for both Cucina and its clients “at a time of unprecedented budget pressures.
