Greencore Group plc, the leading international convenience food business, has announced that it has reached an agreement to sell its cakes and desserts business in Hull.
Blackburn and Bradford-based Bright Blue Foods Ltd (BBF) has acquired the division. The firm is one of the UK’s leading ambient cake manufacturers of retailer own label, licensed and branded cakes, supplying recognisable retailers across the UK and European market.
This sale, together with the announced closure of the desserts facility in Evercreech, marks Greencore’s exit from the UK cakes and desserts sector. The group will now focus on its savoury own brands, like Little Dish and Sutherland Deli, plus brands such as Bisto, Heinz and Weightwatchers Chilled.
