Crussh introduces re-usable cup discount & outlines sustainability plans

Following the recent announcement that Crussh will remove plastic straws from all stores by Easter, the healthy food & juice chain will introduce a re-usable cup initiative. From now, Crussh will give a 25p discount for those bringing in re-usable coffee cups.

Crussh 2018 sustainability commitments:
• By Easter, we will remove all plastic straws from our business, and replace these with a compostable solution.
• By Easter, we will begin a trial of compostable cutlery in selected stores.
• This year, we will find a sustainable, recyclable solution for our disposable coffee cups.
• We will work on all our waste streams to minimise what we send to landfill.

Ecoffee cups will be sold at all Crussh stores (excluding Sainsbury’s Pimlico) costing £8 each, and will give customers a free coffee when they buy one. They will be sold alongside Crussh reusable water bottles, costing £3.

Helen Jones, Head of Marketing, Crussh Fit Food & Juice Bars, comments: ‘As well as removing plastic straws from our business by Easter, we’re delighted to introduce a discount on all hot drinks to customers bringing in reusable coffee cups.

'We’ll also be selling Ecoffee cups in our stores and will give customers a free coffee when they buy one. The reusable cup discount is just one of the initiatives we’re working on this year to help reduce our waste.'

Sustainability practices at Crussh today are as follows:
• A number of packaging items like napkins and coffee sleeves are made from recycled materials and are 100% biodegradable.
• 99% of plastics are widely recyclable.
• In all stores with seating, mugs are available for hot drinks instead of take-away cups.
• In half of Crussh stores, waste is taken to an energy recovery facility in Southwark where the waste is turned into energy and used by the National Grid to power local homes with electricity.
• All stores stock Life Water, the ethical bottled water brand that funds clean water projects and builds wells across the globe
