Tom Oldroyd confirms opening date for E8 pub & dining room

Tom Oldroyd has confirmed The Duke of Richmond public house & dining room in London's E8 will open on Thursday 24 May.

Soft launch dates will be Thursday 24, Friday 25 & Saturday 26 May (lunch & dinner), with 30% off food in the dining room.

Originally opened in 1841 and called ‘The Duke of Richmond’, Oldroyd has restored the old Hackney pub to its namesake former glory as a good old-fashioned neighbourhood boozer and dining room - and will serve a menu of classic pub dishes with a French slant.

The new Duke of Richmond offers 90-covers in total, comprising 40-covers in the bar area and 30 in the dining room. The outside terrace will host up a further 20 and provides the ideal East London al fresco summer drinking spot.

The pub will open seven days a week, with reservations taken for the dining room. Both the pub and dining room menus will have a strong French accent, whilst using the best of seasonal British produce.

Heading up the kitchen is Rory Shannon. Hailing from Dublin, Rory moved to London in 2012 and has since gained a wealth of pub kitchen experience including four years as head chef at the celebrated Canton Arms in Stockwell, before moving to Winemakers Deptford.

Dishes on the bar menu will include:
Crispy pigs ears
Cornish crab chip butty w brown crab rouille
Ratatouille Provençal, cow’s curd & baked garlic bread (v)
The Duke Burger - 6oz rib cap patty w Roquefort, confit shallots & béarnaise sauce

Dishes on the dining room menu will include:
Cornish crab soufflé, crab bisque & gruyere toast
Swaledale lamb en croûte, green beans & truffle butter
Violetta artichoke, haricot bean & confit garlic cassoulet w broad beans & brioche crumb (v)
Rum baba, chargrilled pineapple & toasted coconut & Chantilly cream

Sunday's will be a big focus at The Duke of Richmond and will feature an all-day pub roast and rotisserie menu to compete with the best in London.

Beer on tap will be supplied by Dalston's 40FT (www.40ftbrewery.com) and other London-based breweries, alongside a selection of fine ciders.
