New Spanish bar-restaurant opens in former London loo


Spanish restaurant and bar, Chiringuito is just about to open in a former public loo in east London's Bethnal Green.

The new all-day foodie spot has a beachy vibe and also offers a rooftop space for those who want to enjoy cocktails in the sun.

In charge of the kitchen is Peruvian chef Marco Padilla, who has givien the menu a Latin American twist. There are main dishes, bar snacks and tapas plates.

Diners can kick off with breakfast dishes such as the Full Chiringuito Breakfast, with eggs your way, mushrooms, wilted spinach, pan con tomate, with choice of bacon, buttifarra sausage, chorizo, veggie sausage or halloumi.

Main dishes include Fish tacos: Grilled swordfish with sauco (elderberry jam), Roast pork belly in pisco and beer sauce with red Peruvian chillies, Jalea mixta - Seafood basket of prawns, mussels, calmari battered and fried w/ criolla and tartare, and Chiringuito fish & chips - Fish tacos w/ yuca chips

On Sunday, there are roasts of pork, beef, or chicken, which are all served with (sweet) patatas bravas and mixed roast vegetables.

Puddings include Churros with chocolate dip, and Meringue with granola and lucuma ice cream.

For drinks, there are very large gin and tonics, cava and Spanish wines. and a range of cocktails - like Museum Gardens - basil-infused Vodka, St Germain Elderflower Liquer, Fresh Lime, Sugar, Grapefruit Bitters.
