Esquires Coffee launches compostable products

Ethical community coffee brand Esquires Coffee has just introduced brand new sustainable and compostable coffee cups in all stores.

As well as introducing compostable coffee cups, Esquires Coffee is rolling out compostable takeaway boxes, serviettes and straws to its 38 UK stores throughout October. New cold drink takeaway cups will be 100% recyclable.

Esquires believes strongly in sustainability and with the Great British public using 7 million disposable coffee cups everyday, that’s 2.5 billion every year, Esquires strives to recycle and re-use whenever and wherever possible.

As one of the first global coffee chains to serve only 100% Fair-trade and Organic coffee, Esquires knows how important it is to provide products that are both ethical and sustainable, which do not exploit or harm the plant.

CEO Aiden Keegan said, ‘We’re delighted to introduce our brand new compostable coffee cups, as well as our wider range of sustainable packaging. We want to make sure our customers know we’re doing all we can to reduce the amount of single-use plastic within our business, so by 2020 we aim to remove all single use plastic from our business.’

As well as focusing on sustainability, Esquires Coffee takes pride in its community spirit, with each shop acting as a central hub within its locale. With a ‘love local’ ethos, the food and beverage selection is hand crafted and locally sourced to reflect the neighbourhood, whilst supporting other local businesses and suppliers.
