Bells gets green light for new £500k cake manufacturing facility

Scotland's leading manufacturer of pies, cakes and pastry, Bells Food Group has won approval to expand its Dykehead Bakery in Shotts, Lanarkshire, with a new cake manufacturing facility by 2020, with the creation of up to 15 jobs.

The company is set to invest £0.5m in creating a dedicated cake bakery after acquiring a 4,500 sq ft former Council depot in 2017, next to its Dykehead Bakery in Shotts.

The expansion will see cake manufacturing move into the new facility and the existing Dykehead Bakery focus solely on pastry manufacturing.

The Bells range of cakes includes the famous Kirriemuir Gingerbread, and Festive Loaf Cakes - Cherry Cake, Madeira Cake and Sultana Cake.
