Prada to launch historic Milanese pastry shop in London

Grosvenor Britain & Ireland has announced today that Marchesi 1824 - the historic Milanese pastry shop founded in 1824 - will expand internationally, selecting Mayfair’s Mount Street to open its first store outside of Italy this April.

The Pasticceria Marchesi, which Prada Group bought the majority share in 2014, will open at 117 Mount Street and encompass a pastry counter, bakery and cafe, offering freshly baked pastries, cakes, biscuits and sweets, as well as the finest chocolates and traditional Italian ice-cream.

Since 1824, the Marchesi family-run pastry shop earned an increasingly widespread reputation for its handmade confections. The original shop in Milan – located at via Santa Maria alla Porta - has maintained an authentic atmosphere, preserving its original early 20th century features, and has remained faithful to its founding traditions of using the finest ingredients, with the highest craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Today, with an addition of two locations across Milan (at Via Monte Napoleone and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II), it has become a cherished port of call for an eclectic and cosmopolitan clientele.

Keith Bailey, Mayfair Director, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said, “We are delighted to welcome Pasticceria Marchesi to Mount Street. This cafee and shop, a new amenity for locals and visitors, will grow the openness and appeal of our London estate. On top of that, Prada Group’s legacy and credentials chime perfectly with Mount Street’s boutiques, heritage brands and restaurants.”

Paul Souber, Co-head of UK Retail, Colliers International, said, “Prada’s choice to open Marchesi on Mount Street further demonstrates this area’s diverse shopping and dining scene and is testament to Grosvenor’s commitment to exceptional place making in this thriving part of the London. Shoppers will be able to pop in for a Milan-style coffee in between perusing London’s most stylist luxury fashion destinations.”
