Fitness First introduces new exclusive health club concept

Fitness First has revealed details of an invitation-only health club concept aimed at business executives. Gravity will have a joining fee of around £1,500 and membership will cost £300 a month.

The first club will be launched in Singapore in July - at a cost if £4.7m - with plans to bring Gravity to London.

The development is the latest phase of chief executive Andrew Cosslett’s move to take the brand upmarket and diversity to fend off competition from fast-growing discount rivals such as Pure Gym and The Gym Group in the UK.

The gym chain is more than halfway through a three-year, £200m turnaround programme after almost falling into administration in 2012.
