Clerkenwell craft beer & pizza site officially opens

Artisanal pizza and craft beer outlet in London's Clerkenwell, Wedge Issue took over an old Italian restaurant and had a soft launch in October. The team behind the concept has been spending the following months transforming the site and has now officially opened it.

The dining area has open views of the pizzaiolos making pizza, and there is a semi-private room for up to 20 diners and a cellar bar event space for up 40 diners, or 60 buffet-style.

The kitchen makes thin-crust pizza from dough that is proofed for three days - a gluten-free base is available. The sauce is simply crushed San Marzano tomatoes, and the pizza is flash-baked at high heat. The menu also offers a small focused pasta and salad selection.

The list of craft beers come from small London breweries - Anspach & Hobday (south), Weird Beard (west), plus East London and Pressure Drop (east). The beer list is complex but the wine list is simple, named as 'house', 'decent' and 'pretty good'.
