Adam Rawson crowned Slider Decider Champion for second year running


Sixteen of the UK’s most talented and creative chefs took part in The Slider Decider bun fight hosted at The Botanist Broadgate Circle on Saturday to showcase their slider skills, but it was last year’s winner, Adam Rawson who scooped the title once again and was crowned best of the bunch by the esteemed panel of judges.

His Global Traveller, which included an aged Basque beef patty, truffle aioli, wild rocket, balsamic onions, pancetta and gorgonzola, beat a host of other impressive entries.

Runner-up was Robbin Holmgren of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen with his Iberico pork patty, crispy pig's jowl, apple slaw, fermented plum BBQ sauce, dill pickles and quince mustard. Third place went to Sameer Taneja from Talli Joe with his Desi Slider, which included a banana blossom and black chickpea patty inside a bao bun, served with fenugreek curried mayo, kachumber slaw, saag and in-house packeted crisps.The public also voted for their favourite, with Robbin Holmgren of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen being awarded the ‘People’s Choice Winner’.

Hosted by journalist and food writer Joe Warwick, the four-strong judging panel comprised of Jamie Klingler, Founder of National Burger Day and Publishing Manager of Shortlist’s Mr Hyde; Food Writer, Restaurant Critic and Author Andy Lynes, Mike Gibson, Associate Editor of Foodism and Jon Massey, Deputy Editor of The Wharf.

Other restaurants taking part included The Botanist Broadgate Circle, Ember Yard, maze Grill, Tom’s Kitchen, Balans Soho Society, Hixter, Nanban, Cha Chaan Teng, Comptoir Libanais, Street Kitchen, Crab Tavern, Smokin’Buns and Dickie Fitz.
