Bath Ales launches new festive beer at Bath Xmas market

Last night, more than 200 bottles of Bath Ales’ Sulis Christmas (5.6% ABV) festive beer were given away by the local brewer from its pop-up Lodge at the heart of Bath’s Christmas market.

Limited edition Christmas Sulis is a Bock style lager; a warming festive beer, sweet with hints of biscuit, flapjack and honey.

This year’s Lodge at Bath Christmas Market is being run in association with Framptons, the team behind the city’s acclaimed bar and restaurant. As well as a well-stocked bar, with Bath Ales’ award-winning ales, there is mulled wine and cider and a food offering.

Darren James, senior brewer, Bath Ales, said, “Having brewed this beer it was great fun to join in the celebrations and make a toast to Christmas Sulis on the Christmas market locals’ night.

“For the launch of Christmas Sulis, we drew inspiration from the famous J-Day celebrations in Denmark, when an annual festive brew is launched with much anticipation and celebration. We’ve put our own Bath twist on our version which is inspired by Aqua Sulis, the old Roman name of the city.”

Jmaes added, “We don’t expect the beer to stay around for long so get it while you can – when it’s gone, it’s gone. We hope to make Sulis Christmas an annual brew and an annual celebration event.”

Christmas Sulis is available in 330ml bottles. The limited edition beer is available from The Lodge and Bath Ales’ retail stand at the Christmas market. The beer is also available at select pubs and restaurants across Bath, Bath Ales’ online shop and at its brewery shop in Warmley.
