Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery partners with Too Good To Go to tackle food waste

Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery and leading surplus food app, Too Good To Go have announced their partnership to fight food waste.

Conscious consumers are now able to rescue delicious surplus roast dinners from 92 Stonehouse sites across the UK and stop them from going to waste.

Too Good To Go lets people buy surplus food and drink from restaurants, grocery stores, pubs, cafes and producers to stop it from going to waste. Consumers simply download the free Too Good To Go app and search for their nearby Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery with unsold roasts. They then purchase a ‘Magic Bag’, collect it at an allotted time and enjoy it.

Stonehouse is offering both meat and vegetarian Magic Bags, containing a variety of surplus food from the carvery menu to takeaway for a reduced price. The ‘Veg Magic Bag’ contains a selection of vegetarian roast dinner trimmings costing £2.29, while the ‘Roast Magic Bag’ contains roasted carvery meat with trimmings for £3.20.

Since the partnership launched two weeks ago, consumers have already saved almost 9,000 Magic Bags filled with delicious roasts that would have otherwise ended up in the bin. In doing so, Stonehouse has saved over 22,000kg of CO2e emissions - the same as that emitted by 3.9 million smartphone charges.

David Hoyland, Operations Director for Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery, said, “We’re delighted to be helping to reduce food waste at the end of the day by having Magic Bags available. We have always been considered as great value for money and now guests can help us to have a positive impact on the environment too.”

Paschalis Loucaides, UK Managing Director at Too Good To Go, said, “I’m thrilled to be launching our partnership with Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery to save their delicious roasts from going to waste.

'I know our app users across the country are going to jump at the chance to save their Magic Bags, while helping to reduce food waste and its impact on the planet. Our partnership shows that you can still enjoy your favourite comfort food, help the planet and get a great deal - it’s a win- win- win.”
