Oxford Uni awards Mace £20m centre build

The University of Oxford has chosen Mace to build a pioneering data centre to lead the battle against disease.

The new building will store vast amounts of information to give researchers new insights into illnesses and treatments worldwide.

The centre will house 600 staff and have a green roof with a sunken garden area and a bridge.

Known as the Big Data Institute project, it has been funded with a £20m gift from the Li Ka Shing Foundation.

The new centre forms part of a £1.8bn decade-long capital masterplan, which the university began implementing this year.
