Bargain Booze to open first Scottish outlet in 2015

Bargain Booze is to open its first Scottish stores in 2015, in partnership with Scotmid (The Scottish Midland Co-operative Society). If the concept is successful more stores will be rolled out.

In a trading update for the 26 weeks to October 26 the group said had performed in line with market expectations for the full year. For the half year period unaudited revenues were broadly in line with last year at £183m with like-for-like store revenue 1.7% below last year.

Conviviality stated: 'We are confident that we have the strategy in place to deliver a positive second half and profitability will remain in line with our plan. We continue to focus on improving the quality of our store estate, investing in new fascias for all stores, as well as developing click and collect and our new mobile app.'

The company added that it is progressing with its plans to franchise its Wine Rack fascia and had opened its first trial large format BB's Warehouse in Wakefield which is trading in line with expectations. A second store will be opened later this year.
