Coronation Street hotel comes to market

Blackpool’s The Strand Hotel has come to market through Fleurets with a price tag of £825k for the freehold..

The Strand Hotel has notoriety due to its links with Coronation Street. The hotel featured in the infamous episode where Alan Bradley was killed by a Blackpool tram after hunting down long standing ‘Corrie’ character Rita Fairclough, played by Barbara Knox MBE, who was seeking refuge at the hotel. A blue plaque commemorating the event and photographic memorabilia of the filming can be found in the hotel.

The current owner Jane Long commented, “The hotel was featured again in summer 2016, with reference to the original story line. The hotel continues to attract notoriety and trade as a direct result of this association.”

Situated on Blackpool’s seafront promenade, the modern hotel features 33 en-suite rooms, a 100-cover lounge bar, dining room with 90 covers, as well as a two bedroomed private accommodation and customer parking.

Lesley Watmough from Fleurets’ North Western office, who is representing the property, commented, “This hotel has undergone many stages of refurbishment, and most recently had a 4 person passenger lift installed in October 2016. This sale presents a great opportunity to buy an established business.”
