Five Guys to open in Croydon at end of July

Fast food burger chain, Five Guys is to open a new branch on July 31 in Croydon High Street.

The new restaurant, which is situated on the site of a former Yate's pub, has created 42 jobs and seats 209 people.

John Eckbert, CEO of Five Guys UK, said, 'We are excited to be coming to Croydon High Street. We're gearing up to serve our fresh, handmade and fully customisable burgers, hotdogs and milkshakes.'

The new Croydon branch will be the fifth south of the River Thames after restaurants were opened in Wimbledon, Putney, Greenwich and Kingston Upon Thames.

Five Guys was founded in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia, by couple Janie and Jerry Murrell. The name Five Guys refers to the couple's five sons.

The chain first expanded to the UK in 2013 and now has more than 1,000 restaurants worldwide.
