Salon Wine Store to open next to Salon restaurant

Having opened Salon restaurant last month, Salon Wine Store, which sits next door, will launch on Monday 13 November.

Founder Nicholas Balfe and his team have stocked the new outlet to the brim with low intervention, artisan wines, spanning the new and old world.

Guests will be able to drink instore, take home or bring bottles into Salon’s bar and restaurant, for a small corkage fee. The kitchen has created a menu of dishes to accompany the extensive new wine list including, Smoked aubergine, black onion and seed crackers; Slow cooked rabbit ragu, with house made pappardelle; and Girolles, roast chestnut mushrooms, fresh coco beans, and Berkswell.

Salon have worked closely with their suppliers, Indigo, Les Caves de Pyrene and Under the Bonnet Wines to curate a vast collection of over 100 sparkling, red and white wines for the store, all with a focus on low intervention, small scale producers who farm their parcels with care and hand harvest their grapes.

Bottles start at £10, including La Merlettaie from the Marche region in Italy, as well as selling some more interesting wines including a Mother Rock Orange wine from South Africa’s Swartland and a Nas Del Gegant from Sanaüja in Spain.

The Salon team will be on hand, well versed to recommend bottles to suit every taste, and a handful of tables and chairs will be outside in the market, for guests to enjoy a glass or two. Looking ahead to the new year, Salon will also be inviting wine experts and producers to the store for talks, tastings and collaborations.

Balfe said, “We’ve always been really into our low intervention wines here at Salon, it goes hand in hand with our ethos for sustainable cooking. The Wine Store is an opportunity for us to extend our offering, introducing some even more exciting wines to the list and hosting some fun collaborations.”
