Polpo to close third site despite record-breaking results

After a record-breaking last quarter of 2017, Venetian-style restaurant group, Polpo is surprisingly shutting the doors to its Exeter branch.

Polpo, which has only been trading in Guildhall Dining Quarter from April 2017, has announced plans to shut and sell its unit.

Polpo was the final restaurant to join the dining quarter off Queen Street after barbecue restaurant Grillstock pulled out.

This is the third Polpo to announce its closure, joining sites in Bristol and Central London.

Scott Macdonald, the group's managing director, said that the Exeter and Bristol outlets had struggled, while an offer that couldn't be refused' was made for the London site, Ape & Brew on Shaftesbury Avenue.
