Whisky takes centre stage at Nicholson’s pubs annual Showcase

Nicholson’s will be hosting its second annual National Whisky Showcase from 15 January until 25 February, across its 77 pubs nationwide, with numerous events planned as they bring all things whisky to their collection of traditional British pubs.

Designed to highlight the range of whiskies available the Showcase will enable guests to explore the traditional Scottish spirit, letting them discover new and old favourites in their local Nicholson’s pub. With a selection of over 40 UK and global drams on offer, highlights of this year’s Showcase include Bruichladdich’s Classic Laddie, the Hibiki Harmony Japanese whisky and Wales’ very own Penderyn Madeira.

Tasting events and workshops will also be on the agenda for this year’s Showcase, allowing guests to experience and discover both classic and lesser-known brands, all amongst the familiar and welcoming surroundings of their local Nicholson’s pub. With brand ambassadors from the likes of Scotland’s Copper Dog, Bruichladdich and Kentucky based Wild Turkey bourbon in attendance, along with Diageo showcasing their range of celebrated whiskies, whisky fans and newbies will have plenty on offer to whet their palette.

Spirits Category Manager for Nicholson’s Pubs, Jez Manterfield, said; “This year we’ve looked at where innovation is at its strongest and added some very exciting whiskies from all over the globe. With the inclusion of English and Welsh whiskies from Adnams and Penderyn, we now have drams from all across the British Isles for guests to enjoy.

“We’re also looking forward to showcasing some interesting bottlings such as Glenfiddich IPA, a single malt finished in IPA beer casks, which will be a great fit for Nicholson’s pubs. We recognise the importance of accessibility with the Whisky category, adding some new easy-going Irish and Japanese whiskies, as well as some fantastic Bourbon from the USA.”

During the Showcase, from 22- 28 January, Nicholson’s Pubs will celebrate life of famous Scot, Robbie Burns, offering a Burns Night feast of a menu packed with traditional Scottish favourites including; haggis, neeps and tatties, served with a complimentary dram of Glenfiddich IPA.

The 2018 Whisky Showcase will feature in various cities across the UK, with events popping up in the likes of Birmingham, Glasgow, London, Edinburgh and more.
