£800k Gloucestershire inn acquired by Hatton Collection

The Little Thatch Inn Gloucester in Quedgeley near Gloucester has been sold through Christie & Co, off a guide price of £800k, to The Hatton Collection.

The Grade II-listed part-timbered black and white property dates back to 1351, boasting a total of 24 bedrooms and benefiting from a wide range of visitors, including mid-week corporate guests and weekend leisure travellers.

The business has been owned and operated by Jacky McDougall since 1970, who is now looking forward to a well-deserved retirement.

The Hatton Collection also owns seven hotels and inns across the Cotswolds, Somerset and Jersey. Darren Hiscox of The Hatton Collection commented, “I am delighted to welcome The Little Thatch into the Hatton fold. We have been eager to expand our portfolio in the Gloucester area and the Thatch is a perfect addition.

'We plan to sympathetically refurbish all areas of the property over the forthcoming months starting with the bar and public areas.”

Matthew Smith, Director at Christie & Co based in the Bristol office, commented, “Such is the demand for this type of business in this part of the region, it was no surprise to have received multiple offers as the Little Thatch Inn provides a superb opportunity to further expand, with plenty of trade available due to the recent commercial and residential growth of the Quedgeley area.

'We are delighted for Darren Hiscox of Hatton Collection, who is an experienced hospitality business owner who knows the area extremely well and has exciting plans for The Little Thatch.”
