Ei supports launch of innovative game-based training for Hippo Inns

Ei Managed Investments, part of Ei Group, the UK’s largest pub company, is partnering with pioneering technology company Attensi to launch a high-quality training solution that helps boost employee knowledge and performance through a range of fun, digital games.

Attensi’s technology enables simulation-based training which replicates workplace activities and interactions through engaging and competitive games delivered to employees’ smartphones.

The technology is being rolled out in Hippo Inns, the London-based pub company which was the first of Ei Group’s Managed Investments partners, across its estate of 12 pubs.

Simulation-based training has long been recognised and leveraged in other sectors, including aerospace and the armed services, whilst the use of gamification in retail and hospitality is proven to drive engagement resulting in a positive direct impact on sales, customer satisfaction and employee retention.

Following successful implementation of the technology within Hippo Inns, Ei Group will explore how it can best use the solution within Bermondsey Pubs, part of its Managed Operations business unit.

Nathan Wall, Operations Director at Ei Managed Investments, said, “As a business, we are always looking to partner with forward-thinking companies that offer innovative solutions to help drive sales and profitability for our pubs.

'Attensi is one such company – its gamified approach to training is fun, engaging and, most importantly, delivers tangible results. We will closely watch progress within Hippo Inns to explore the possibility of rolling out to our teams across our Bermondsey Pubs estate.”

Adrian Laws, Operations Director of Hippo Inns, commented, “We’ve been incredibly impressed with the Attensi training solution and are grateful to Ei Managed Investments for its support in assisting the roll out across our pub estate.

'We believe the innovative technology will result in greater knowledge among our teams and a more consistent and enhanced experience for our guests.”

Hakon Dammen, Director of Sales at Attensi, added, “We’re delighted to be working with Ei Managed Investments and Hippo Inns on this exciting project. Digitalisation is going to revolutionise all industries, but to truly succeed, businesses need to engage their people in this journey.

'There is a big opportunity in the hospitality sector for gamified simulation-based training which offers a competitive advantage for businesses that take the leap.”
