Devon pub to reopen as B&B under new ownership

The Seven Stars Inn, a traditional village inn located in the picturesque village of South Tawton, in Devon, has been sold through Christie & Co, off a guide price of £250k.

Situated in the heart of the village, the pub occupies a beautiful stone, which dates back to the 17th century. The pub comprises a lounge bar and restaurant for over 60 covers, as well as a patio beer garden with seating for an additional 20 guests.

As the only public house in the village, the Seven Stars Inn is well known and frequently used for local evening functions and celebrations within the community.

The characterful village of South Tawton is situated within Dartmoor National Park, attracting visitors to explore the region and the popular Tarka Trail, which runs directly past the Seven Stars Inn.

The former owner had previously operated the pub and more recently, the pub had been leased, but due to the recent departure of the lessee, the owner decided to sell the freehold business. Recently closed, the Seven Stars Inn presented a fantastic opportunity for a new owner to reopen the hub of the village and restore the Seven Stars Inn to its former glory.

New owners, Colin & Natasha Netherway will be moving from North Devon and are going to open the business as a bed & breakfast. They have several other exciting ideas for the pub and want to include the local community in their plans as much as possible, as well as attracting visitors from the neighbouring villages.

Colin Netherway commented, “Both myself and my partner are very excited for this new venture we have taken on. We were made to feel very welcome by quite a few of the local villagers. We will have a restaurant, bar and rooms in the future and will invite everyone to come and celebrate once we are ready to open our doors.”

Lloyd Colin, Business Agent at Christie & Co handled the sale and said, “The Seven Stars is a beautiful building that is full of character and I am sure that once Colin and Natasha open their business, it will become a destination stop on many visitors to do lists. We generated a large amount of interest and multiple offers for the Seven Stars and I wish Colin and Natasha great success for the future.”
