The Fancy Fork from Shuli Wimer is to open on 23 July at all-day brand Farmer J's King William Street site, serving Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours every evening.
Bringing together her five years of experience at world-renowned The River Café and the flavours of her Israeli upbringing, Wimer has created a menu championing the best of the season’s produce and inspired by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours.
Growing up in Galilee, known as the ‘Land of Milk and Honey’, Wimer was surrounded by almond and pomegranate orchards, olive groves and vineyards before moving to Tel Aviv to run her first kitchen. Her knowledge of seasonal Israeli ingredients then led to a six-month residency at L28 in Tel Aviv.
Now in London, as the lights go down at Farmer J’s Monument site, Shuli will take over the kitchen as 'The Fancy Fork by Farmer J' comes to life.
The Fancy Fork’s menu is made for sharing; smaller dishes will be Padron Peppers with a za’atar and oregano crumb and Tahini Tuna Tartare with sliced green runner beans. Largerplates will include Zucchini Flowers stuffed with ricotta, basil and olive paste, and a Cherry Salad with herbs, feta, pine-nuts and sumac.
For those looking for more substantial dishes, choices include a Freekeh Risotto topped with grilled bone marrow, aubergine and parsley and Grilled Whole Fish with smashed roasted potatoes, sage and rosemary.
For sweet treats, diners can finish with Wimer’s signature Semolina Olive Oil Cake served with herb syrup or Coconut Custard with cherries, amaretto and almonds.
Wimer said,“I’m very excited to be joining forces with Farmer J and to be bringing a little bit of my cooking to one of my favourite places. Farmer J’s ethos is totally in line with my food: honest, great quality and bursting with flavour.”
The Fancy Fork will open at Farmer J, King William Street from 5.30pm until late.
