Premier Inn launches online gym partnership trial

Premier Inn has joined forces with the UK’s biggest online fitness provider, offering its guests access to thousands of gyms across the UK in a deal believed to be the first national partnership of its kind.

The trial partnership with Hussle will enable guests who sign up to the service to book discounted gym sessions at nearly 3000 gyms across the UK - a number of which also have spas.

Initially trialling in 50 pilot hotels, including locations in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham and Cardiff, the partnership is the latest move by parent-owners Whitbread.

It is expected that the trial will have broad appeal to all types of guests, and in particular to business travellers keen to keep up their fitness regimes when travelling for work as well as health-conscious leisure travellers including millennials.

Gyms on offer as part of the trial include:
• Bannatyne Health Club in London’s Russell Square which features a 17m pool, a spa pool, a sauna and a steam room as well as equipment including resistance
machines, cardio machines and free weights
• Nuffield Health Birmingham Central Fitness & Wellbeing Gym which features a sauna and steam room as well as advanced gym facilities
• Manchester’s Lowry Hotel which features a fitness centre and spa
• Edinburgh’s Waldorf Astoria which features two state-of-the-art gyms and a
swimming pool
• Fitness Factory Cardiff

A Premier Inn spokesperson said, “Our strategy is to grow and innovate our core UK business and our trial partnership with Hussle is a great example of how we are harnessing technology to offer the millions of guests who stay with us each year the best-possible experience.

'Research tells us that whether they are travelling for leisure or work, many guests, including business travellers and health-conscious millennials, would welcome the opportunity to access gym facilities while they are away, and we hope this partnership proves attractive to both existing and potential guests.”

Accessing Hussle gym services through Premier Inn is simple. Guests are offered a link to the Hussle homepage when booking their hotel online. Guests who wish to do so can use the link to search for gyms near their hotel and take advantage of a special 25% Premier Inn guest discount.

A range of options are available, including day and monthly passes, and pass prices, which vary between gyms, start at just £1.80.

The service is totally flexible, with no requirement to tie into a contract, and the ability to stop and start at any point.

The announcement is the second digital partnership announced by Premier Inn in as many months – after revealing it is teaming up with Stasher, an online luggage storage network which will enable non-guests to store bags at Premier Inn hotels across the country.
