Exeter Golf & Country Club plans major redevelopment

Exeter Golf & Country Club has submitted plans for a major redevelopment of its sports and leisure facilities, with the creation of 13 jobs.

Key objectives of the scheme are to modernise facilities for an improved experience, to improve and update existing clubhouse facilities, to provide a viable development of the site and to propose a design that compliments Weir House and its Grade II* Listed status.

The scheme includes an airdome to provide an indoor tennis facility, maintaining at least five squash courts, modernised gym equipment and larger facilities, a new lounge bar and a new driving range and improved changing room for the swimming pool, and new sauna, steam and cold plunge pool facilities.

With the introduction of improved sport and leisure facilities, the club intends to upgrade and improve their bar and cafe areas. The proposed family cafe will benefit from a new crèche, external terrace area and its proximity to both leisure and changing areas.

The sports bar offers vital internal circulation links and will provide golf and sports members with a flexible social space with views towards the 18th green.
