Sheldon Inns has reopened The Chequers Inn, Fladbury, following a major £180k joint investment revamp with Ei Publican Partnerships.
The new opening follows a significant transformation to bring a well-known and prominent site back to its former glory. The extensive refurbishment project received a £140k investment from Ei Publican Partnerships, the leased and tenanted division of the UK’s largest pub company Ei Group.
This forms part of a capital investment programme of c£80m per year, that the Group continues to make into its pub estate for the benefit of communities across the country.
With over 20 years’ experience in the pub industry, Martin is a highly skilled publican, having run multiple pubs in his career, and the Chequers Inn is one of six pub properties in his portfolio with Ei Publican Partnerships.
The pub has undergone major interior renovations including a new and repositioned bar which has created a bright, open plan restaurant space for guests to enjoy. New installations include an upgraded commercial kitchen and toilets, as well as new bi-folding doors and furniture, providing the pub with a cosy, yet modern feel and atmosphere.
In addition, the site will offer a fine dining experience with a new restaurant area that opens up onto the gardens, creating the perfect space for hosting a variety of events, including birthdays, weddings and christenings for the local community to enjoy. For those seeking an overnight stay there are also eight fully refurbished bedrooms complete with new bathrooms.
Director of Sheldon Inns, Martin Cartwright said, “Having only been at the Chequers for a short time, I am hugely excited to have the opportunity to restore life into this pub and revive it as a venue that welcomes both locals and visitors to Fladbury.
'I am confident that following the refurbishment, the Chequers Inn will be a great success and bring all members of the local village together, whilst offering a range of fantastic food and drink teamed with first class service.
“Ei Publican Partnerships has been extremely supportive throughout this process and working in partnership with the business for many years, I am looking forward to seeing what the future brings.”
Ei Publican Partnerships Regional Manager, Matthew Obrey added, “I have been involved with the Chequers Inn for a number of years and am over the moon to see the pub at its full potential.
'Since taking on the Chequers, Martin has worked very hard to make this pub a success and it is great to have such an experienced publican at the helm. I wish him the best of luck as he continues to take this pub from strength to strength, bringing positive change to the local area and attracting new and prospective customers.”
