UKH says business rates cut must pave way for reform

UKHospitality has made comment on the Prime Minister’s statement yesterday that a Conservative Government would cut business rates.

UKHospitality Chief Executive, Kate Nicholls said, “The Prime Minister mentioned that his Government would be one that understands business and cuts business rates.

“High streets have been hit hard by business rates and hospitality has arguably been hit the hardest of any sector. A rates cut would certainly be a positive first step for businesses and, ideally, should come ahead of a wholescale review of the entire system.

“The other major parties should also take note. Business rates is the biggest barrier to growth that businesses are facing right now. Government cannot expect businesses to flourish under the current regime.”
