Honey & Co founders to launch podcast series in January

This January 2020, Honey & Co founders Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich (pictured) will launch ‘Who Run the World?’, the latest podcast from the series Honey & Co: The Food Talks, with an all-female line-up of star guests from the food world.

Marking the achievements and stories of women in the industry, each episode is pre-recorded live in front of an audience at their deli, Honey & Spice, and features everyone from critics to chefs – as long as they happen to be female.

Released every Friday via iTunes and Spotify, the first episode will launch on Friday 17th January with the final episode airing on International Women’s Day on the 8th March 2020.

Guests taking part in the series will cover all areas of the food world. To discuss the role of culinary schools in changing the landscape of our restaurants Darina Allen, founder of cookery school Ballymaloe, will talk about the changes she’s seen for women training for a career in food over the years.

Covering radio broadcasting, Sheila Dillon will chat to Sarit and Itamar about her experiences as a food journalist and presenter of Radio 4’s The Food Programme for the last 30 years.

Writer and cultural anthropologist Claudia Roden, a culinary knowledge powerhouse and the authority on Middle Eastern food will discuss her career in food writing; Romy Gill MBE, one of the few female Indian chef/owners on the UK restaurant scene will talk about the challenges facing women in the workplace.

Covering print media, Packer and Srulovich have Sunday Times food editor Lisa Markwell who will talk about her three decades working in journalism; and Evening Standard restaurant critic Fay Maschler will talk about the changes she’s seen in the London restaurant scene since she won a competition to write for the newspaper in 1972.

To discuss the world of tv broadcasting, Sarit and Itamar have tv chef and Great British Menu judge Andi Oliver. This is the cream of the crop of food media in the UK.

Packer said, “The food world may be known for male domination across all spheres but these women are the most inspiring and influential professionals in the industry right now: food critics, writers, culinary school teachers, presenters, restaurateurs, broadcasters, and they all just happen to be women.

'As a company, Honey & Co. is run by strong and courageous women – Itamar is famously our odd man out! Bucking every industry trend our entire senior staff is female and we are so proud of this. We celebrate female success every day that we operate and we are so happy to be putting on this series to empower women throughout the industry and beyond.”

The Food Talks: Who Run the World Podcast will air on Friday 17 January, available to download weekly via Spotify and iTunes.
