The Queens Head in Boughton, Kent has a new look, and new faces behind the bar.
Husband and wife team Reuben and Kate Love have taken over the historic Shepherd Neame pub, which was built in 1590 and is situated in a picturesque village, just outside Faversham.
The Queens Head has just undergone a £100k refurbishment project, which included repainting throughout, along with new furniture, light fittings and décor.
The pub's extensive garden will also be developed in the New Year, with new decking and furniture. It is a return to Shepherd Neame for Reuben and Kate, as they previously worked for the company for 20 years, managing pubs in Kent including the Royal Oak, Dartford; Early Bird, Grove Green; and Crown Inn, Chislehurst.
Reuben (pictured right) said, 'Kate and I wanted to try something new, so three years ago we decided to move to Spain and open a bar and restaurant. It went really well, but this year we decided to come back to the UK for family reasons, so we contacted Shepherd Neame to see if there were any opportunities available.
'When they showed us the Queens Head, we fell in love with its unique character, and could see it has massive potential.'
Reuben looks after front of house, while Kate oversees the kitchen team. The pub is open Tuesday to Sunday, with food available every day. The pair have just introduced a new brunch offer, available from 10am to 12noon, offering dishes such as Eggs Benedict along with coffee, tea and pastries.
Lunch is then available from 12noon to 3pm Tuesday to Saturday, and dinner from 6pm to 9pm. Food is served from 12 noon to 5pm on Sunday.
With the Shepherd Neame brewery just three miles away in Faversham, the Queens Head naturally serves distinctive Kentish cask ales in peak condition. It also offers a selection of local and international lagers along with a carefully selected wine list and range of premium spirits.
Reuben added, 'We enjoyed working with Shepherd Neame in the past and are really pleased to be back with them again. We have lots of plans for the coming months, but our primary aim is to ensure that our pub is at the heart of the local community, and everyone feels welcome here. We love what we do, and we are really excited about this new challenge.'
