£45m plans move forward for Blackpool leisure scheme

Holmes Investment Properties has unveiled £45m plans to redevelop a green space at Stanley Park Golf Course, located in Blackpool Park Golf Club, into a holiday site with 250 lodges and an Adrenalin World adventure park.

The development group struck a deal with former tennis professional and leisure centre operator, David Lloyd last September for his new brand, Adrenalin World (CGI of climbing wall pictured), to operate the park.

The adventure park would offer activities including zip-wires, go-karting, themed mini-golf, wall climbing and virtual reality rooms. An £100m plan for an Adrenaline World has also been submitted for Chesterfield, with another 10 sites earmarked.

The plans also include the redevelopment of the existing golf clubhouse and landscaping.

The golf club, which opened in 1926, would be reduced in size from 18 holes to nine under the proposals. The course currently totals 91 acres across two plots but the development site comprises a smaller, roughly L-shaped, plot.

The course has always been run as a municipal facility by Blackpool Borough Council and the private members club attached to the course provides clubhouse facilities, as well as a comprehensive golf programme throughout the year.
