Ghanaian chef to open first perm restaurant & bar in Africa Centre this June

Following the success of chef Akwasi Brenya-Mensa's supper clubs across London, he's now moving to his first permanent site, Tatale, which will be situated in SE1's The Africa Centre from 7 June.

Tatale is a restaurant and bar concept born in Ghana and developed in London, and its namesake is a plantain pancake, a quintessential Ghanaian dish.

Offering a menu of Pan-African cuisine, dishes will include Omo Tuo Nkatekwan Sesame - mashed rice with groundnut, peanut soup, and The Tatale Signature Chicken Burger 2.0 with buttermilk fried chicken topped with shito chilli, citrus yoghurt, basil oil.

To finish, Tatale will serve up Plantain Cheesecake and Pineapple Tequila Sorbet.

The restaurant and bar will be found on the ground and first floors of The Africa Centre, which will be open to the Centre's visitors in the day, then as a standalone restaurant in the evening.

Akwasi has worked within the food world for over 10 years as a restaurateur, street food operator, caterer, and host of the successful ‘Mensa, Plates and Friends’ supper club, and now Tatale.
