Four-star West London hotel let to San Francisco-based group

The Henry VIII Hotel in London's Bayswater has been successfully let to Sonder Holdings Inc through Christie & Co.

Set in a Victorian terrace building, which has served as the backdrop for a number of British TV films, this 102-bed hotel is located in one of London’s most cosmopolitan areas, just moments from Hyde Park, Kensington Palace Gardens, the Royal Albert Hall and Portobello Road Market.

The hotel has been owned by the same family for a number of years and has been extensively modernised during this time; perfectly blending contemporary interiors with the buildings’ heritage and charm. The family’s decision to market a new leasehold was prompted by the need to focus on their other business ventures throughout the UK and abroad.

The new tenant, Sonder Holdings Inc is an innovative short-term rental management company based in san Francisco, which operates a growing portfolio of units across North America, Europe, and Dubai. The addition of The Henry VIII Hotel will expand their portfolio to 28 properties across the United Kingdom and Ireland and approximately 900 total units.

Andrew Evangelou, Director and Head of London Hotels at Christie & Co brokered the deal and commented, “I have worked closely with the previous owners of The Henry VIII for many years, so I’m delighted to have secured a suitable new tenant on their behalf.

' The hotel is a landmark building situated close to Hyde Park and the family have established an excellent business over the years that will provide an exceptional trading platform for Sonder to take the hotel forward.”
